Deck Your House For the Holidays: Guest Room
This Christmas, we came up with some tips and tricks to get every inch of your house in the holiday spirit. No matter what your stylistic preference is for the winter season (whether it's classy, colorful, farmhouse, or modern), these scenes can be recreated in homes with all sorts of styles and themes; just make it your own!
As family filters into town, you are focused on giving them a wonderful Christmas experience that is worth their while. The house is done up, the bathrooms are clean, the table is set. This year, we challenge you to go beyond just washing the guest room sheets and take advantage of the guest room space to expand your Christmas decor. Guests will be thrilled with the cozy and festive space that is just for them.
It's the Little Things
If you have ever walked into a hotel that handed you a cookie or left you a piece of candy on your pillow, then you understand how sweet the little things can be. So why not provide the same kind of simple hospitality in your own home? Styling a serving tray at the end of the bed that is packed with lotions, delicate soap, water, and even face cleaning towels will show your guests that you truly care about their comfort this holiday. To give the serving tray a clean look, try organizing "the little things" in a see-through storage bin.
We're Dreaming of a Colorful Christmas
Something that is fun about decorating a guest room is that it is separate from the rest of the house, so it doesn't exactly have to follow all of the same rules. You can be creative and go outside the box to create a fun yet festive space for your guests. We made ours pop by using a variety of colors that complimented the peacock blue accent wall (which we are obsessed with). Our shelf-top color was provided by photo frames, fun figurines, sprigs of pine in a glass vase or accented on a pedestal. The color factor was taken up a notch with our Tannenbaum™ trees which perfectly accented our whimsical throw pillow.
