Deck Your House For the Holidays: Dining Room

Posted on November 05, 2018

This Christmas, we came up with some tips and tricks to get every inch of your house in the holiday spirit. No matter what your stylistic preference is for the winter season (whether it's classy, colorful, farmhouse, or modern), these scenes can be recreated in homes with all sorts of styles and themes; just make it your own!

One room in your home that could bring your seasonal decor to the next level is the dining room. This year you can create a space that makes it seem as though you will be feasting every night until Christmas.

The Little Things

Before you jump right into your Christmas tablescape, take some time to think about the other surfaces in your dining area. Whether on a hutch, a bar cart, or a shelving unit, there are lots of spaces to tuck in some fun and festive details. We styled a serving tray with white frost tealights, simple vases with seasonal sprigs, and a bottle of our best champagne. Other tabletop accessories included some small faux pine trees and a winter wonderland scene using our natural wood trees and reindeer.

That Table Though

We continued our nature-inspired look onto the dining table, draping fresh pine sprigs across the middle paired with chic and clean-looking candleholders. The green centerpiece provides contrast with our lighter-toned place settings. We layered (and layered) light-wash woven corn husk placemats, a teak plate as a charger, and lightly patterned white china. Our place settings were brought to life with bright-colored cloth napkins and adorable nutcracker ornaments that added loads of personality. All of this was accented with gold silverware to bring some high class to our dining room.

Up The Cozy Factor

One way that you can bring some warmth and coziness to your dining space is by draping textured throws over your dining bench or chairs. These can work to bring out the accent colors in your display, or they can just be an excuse to snuggle up at dinner time. Another way to up the cozy factor is by bringing in some lit Christmas trees. We displayed ours in matching woven baskets to really tie in all of the natural elements in the room. Plus, the option to dine in candlelight and tree light is just too tempting.
